Restoration of the worn dentition - an evidence based approach?

Abstract: Tooth wear is a frequently encountered condition and the management of patients with tooth wear, may be complex and at times, highly challenging. The aim of this lecture is to discuss the key terms in relation to tooth wear, discuss the effects of the condition on the patient and to provide an overview of a logical and agreed management philosophy, to include preventive care and monitoring.

The restoration of localised and generalised tooth wear will be discussed, supported by clinical case examples.  An overview will also be provided of the evidence-base relating to the dental materials and techniques commonly prescribed as part of the restorative protocols for the treatment of this condition.
